Daniel Apodaca’s first brush with filmmaking involved filming his friends jumping over tennis nets and gliding down handrails on their skateboards. Growing up as a teenager in East Los Angeles, the third-year film student watched online tutorials to learn how to shoot and edit his skate videos.


Westwood Village plans to offer affordable evening parking program

Westwood visitors will soon receive discounted parking rates in the evening as part of a two-year pilot program. The Westwood Village Improvement Association is collaborating with UCLA to offer the “$5 after 5 p.m.” parking program at Lot 36 and on 924 Westwood Blvd.


USAC Election Board sanctions two candidates

The undergraduate student government election board issued five sanctions between Saturday and Tuesday this week. The election board investigated a total of 12 complaints and ruled to issue three sanctions for social media violations, one for a leafleting violation, and one for a media advertising violation.

Last week, the Daily Bruin ran an opinion column arguing for the UCLA administration to require written assignments be turned in and graded exclusively online, perhaps via pre-existing systems such as Turnitin. The column argued the interim solution to achieving a paper-less campus would be to mandate that any written assignments longer than six pages be turned in and graded exclusively online.
